A family of seven is looking forward to moving into their brand new home in Northwest Roanoke, and the Roanoke Valley Orthodontics team is proud to have lent a hand to help!
Dr. Jones, several members of the RVO staff and their friends and family joined with other volunteers from Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley on June 15 to hang drywall, build a ramp for a work shed and complete other tasks. This is the second time the RVO team has put our construction “skills” to work for Habitat. (That’s the great thing about Habitat — you don’t need experience!)
The home is expected to be finished in August, and the new owners — the Doukoure-Swaray family — have also put in lots of time on the project since construction began in February. The property is an EarthCraft House, which means it is “sourced, constructed and designed to reduce environmental impacts” and will save the family money on energy bills.
Our work on the Habitat house aligns with our mission to #EmbraceRoanoke through service. We believe it’s our responsibility to give back to the community that supports our practice and is home to so many of our patients.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity, and we wish health and happiness to the Doukoure-Swaray family in their new home.
